DES MOINES, Iowa (Ticker) -- Cole Liniak went 4-for-4 with a
grand slam homer to power the Iowa Cubs to a 10-3 triumph over
the Oklahoma Redhawks. Liniak, who smacked three doubles and
scored three runs, gave Iowa a 10-1 advantage in the fifth
inning after Alan Zinter was intentionally walked to load the
bases. Julio Zuleta belted a two-run shot, his third home run in
two games, and Raul Gonzalez triggered a six-run fifth inning
with a two-run double for the Cubs. Pedro Valdes knocked in
three runs and B.J. Waszgis tripled and scored for Oklahoma.
Mike Heathcott (1-2) allowed three hits and one run in 3 1/3
innings to pick up the win in relief. Starter Brian Sikorski
(1-4) was shelled for eight hits and nine runs in only 4 1/3
innings to take the loss for the Redhawks, who allowed an
opponent to score in double digits for the sixth time in their
last 17 games.
