LAS VEGAS (Ticker) -- Kevin Nicholson drove in a pair of runs
and Ben Davis went 3-for-3 with an RBI as the Las Vegas Stars
handed the Tucson Sidewinders their sixth consecutive loss, 6-5.
Nicholson hit an run-scoring double in the second inning and
smacked his second RBI two-bagger of the game in the fifth.
Davis belted an RBI double for Las Vegas, which led, 6-1, after
seven innings. Will Cunnane (1-0), making his first apperance,
allowed five hits and one run in five innings to notch the win
and Brandon Kolb yielded two unearned runs but picked up his
sixth save. Greg LaRocca went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored
and an RBI for the Stars, who have won four straight games and
eight of nine. Craig Counsell collected three hits, inlcuding a
pair of run-scoring singles, and Mike Mitchell had two RBI for
Tucson, which fell to 2-5 in games decided by two runs or less.
Losing pitcher John Patterson (0-2) was tagged for nine hits and
six runs in only 4 2/3 innings.
