COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (Ticker) -- Danny Ardoin and Paul
Sorrento both drove home three runs as the Sacramento River Cats
topped the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, 17-5. Ardoin, who scored
four runs, highlighted a 12-run third inning with an RBI single
and two-run homer. Sorrento drew a walk with the bases loaded in
the third, lifted a sacrifice fly in the fourth and drove home a
run of a fielder's choice in the sixth inning. Jose Ortiz had
three hits and knocked home two runs, including an RBI double in
the eighth frame, to lengthen his hitting streak to 15 games for
Sacramento. Roberto Vaz added three hits and a pair of RBI for
the River Cats, who had every postion player drive in at least
one run. Marcus Jones (2-1) allowed two runs and seven hits,
striking out six, in 6 2/3 innings for the win. Angel Echevarria
had three RBI, including run-scoring doubles in both the third
and eighth innings, for Colorado Springs. Rick Croushore (0-1)
was shelled for 10 runs and seven hits, walking six, in 2 1/3
innings for the loss.
