CALGARY, Alberta (Ticker) -- Ramon Castro clubbed a grand slam
to highlight a six-run fifth inning as the Calgary Cannons
defeated the Nashville Sounds, 9-7. Castro's second homer of the
season gave Calgary a 9-2 advantage. Mike Gulan launched a
three-run shot and Sean McNally and Nate Rolison had an RBI
apiece for the Cannons, who scored nine runs on just five hits.
Aramis Ramirez went 5-for-5 with a pair of RBI singles and Brent
Brede collected three hits and knocked in a pair of runs for
Nashville, which fell to 15-15 on the season. Emil Brown and Ray
Montgomery each went 3-for-5 with an RBI for the Sounds, who
lost despite pounding out 17 hits. Mike Drumright (2-1), who was
tagged for five hits and seven runs while recording just one out
in his last start, allowed eight hits and two runs in five
innings to earn the win. Joe Strong retired the only batter he
faced to notch his second save for Calgary, which has scored 35
runs over the last four games. Marc Wilkins (0-2) gave up two
hits and three runs in only four innings to take the loss.
