TUCSON, Arizona (Ticker) -- Javier Valentin and Robin Jennings
both homered in the top of the 10th inning as the Salt Lake Buzz
defeated the Tucson Sidewinders, 8-5. Valentin launched a
two-run homer to break a 5-5 tie and two batters later Jennings
belted a solo shot. Valentin and Jennings, who scored two runs,
finished with three hits apiece. Todd Walker delivered an RBI
single in the top of the ninth inning to give Salt Lake a 5-4
advantage but Rob Ryan, who went 3-for-4, drove in a run with a
base hit in the bottom of the frame to knot the score for
Tucson. Jack Cressend (1-0) allowed four hits and two runs in
two innings of relief for the win and Rick Greene retired all
three batters he faced to notch his third save for the Buzz, who
snapped a three-game skid. Johnny Ruffin (1-1) surrendered three
runs and two hits to take the loss for the Sidewinders, who have
dropped seven of their last eight games.
