ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico (Ticker) -- Chris Ashby scored the
go-ahead run in the bottom of the seventh inning to rally the
Albuquerque Dukes past the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, 9-2. Ashby,
who went 3-for-5 with an RBI single, raced home from third on an
error by shortstop Juan Sosa to snap a 2-2 tie. Paul LoDuca
collected three hits, including a bases-clearing triple in a
five-run eighth inning, and Brent Cookson went 3-for-5 with an
RBI base hit for Albuquerque. Hiram Bocachica added three hits
for the Dukes, who finished the contest with 15 singles. Sosa
ripped an RBI triple and Angel Echevarria hit a run-scoring
single for Colorado Springs, which has been outscored by
Albuquerque, 17-3, over the last two games. Hal Garrett (2-2)
tossed two innings of scoreless relief to pick up the win.
Losing pitcher Ed Vosberg (1-1) allowed three runs -- one earned
-- and three hits while retiring just one batter for the Sky
Sox, who have dropped four of their last five games.
