TUCSON, Arizona (Ticker) -- Jason Ryan threw seven strong
innings and Brian Buchanan went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs as
the Salt Lake Buzz defeated the Tucson Sidewinders, 4-3. Ryan
allowed three runs and four hits, striking out seven and walking
a pair, for the win. Buchanan ripped an RBI double in a
three-run first inning. Javier Valentin's RBI double snapped a
3-3 tie in the sixth inning for Salt Lake. Doug Mientkiewicz
added a run-scoring double and Todd Walker chipped in an RBI
single for the Buzz, who won for the fifth time in their last
seven road games. Gus Gandarillas struck out a batter in a
hitless ninth for his sixth save of the season. Rob Ryan and
Mike Mitchell both drove in a run for Tucson, which lost for the
eighth time in its last nine ballgames. Nelson Figueroa (4-2)
was handed the loss, surrendering four runs and 11 hits in 6 2/3
innings.
