FRESNO, California (Ticker) -- Bo Porter launched a pair of home
runs as the Sacramento RiverCats handed the Fresno Grizzlies
their sixth consecutive loss with an 8-1 victory. Porter
extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a two-run shot in
the second inning and added a leadoff homer in the sixth. Jose
Ortiz went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and Roberto Vaz smacked
an RBI double for Sacramento, which has won five games in a row.
Jeff Kubenka (1-0) allowed one run and two hits over 5 2/3
innings to notch the win and Steve Gajkowski tossed 3 1/3
innings of scoreless relief to post his first save. A.J. Hinch
and Mark Bellhorn each had an RBI for the RiverCats, who have
outscored Fresno, 26-3, over the last three games. Michael Byas
homered to provide the lone offense for the Grizzlies, who
reached base just three times. Jason Verdugo (1-2) surrendered
four runs and five hits in only four innings to take the loss.
