What the heck are they thinking?
Page 2 staff

There's a lot of strange stuff happening in the world of sports -- and in the real world, for that matter -- so Page 2 is here once again to try to make sense of all the weirdness with another edition of "What the Heck Are They Thinking?"

Madonna
Madonna can't bear the thought of appearing bare on canvas.
We've tried to figure out what some prominent folks might be thinking -- if anything -- and the best we could do was come up with multiple possibilities, all equally plausible. So, as always, we are asking for your help. Check out the options for each questionable act or quote, and vote in the poll to move on to yet another strange story.

What the heck was Madonna thinking when she got upset about two new oil paintings that depict her in the nude? (The paintings by artist Peter Howson will be unveiled April 13 at the McLaurin Gallery in Ayr, Scotland.)

A. "America's one thing, but there are people in Europe who haven't seen me naked. And I have a reputation to protect over here."

B. "I'm not a 'Boy Toy' like I was when Playboy ran those nude photos in 1985. I'm married to a successful movie director now."

C. "I'm no longer trying to market myself as much as possible like I was when Penthouse ran those nude photos in 1985. I'm a serious musician now."

D. "I'm not trying to make headlines like I was when I exposed my breasts in 'Truth or Dare' in 1991. I'm a serious actress now."

E. "I'm not exploring my sexuality like I was when I published my own soft-porn book entitled 'Sex' in 1992. I've got two kids now."

F. "My goal has always been to avoid controversy."
