ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico (Ticker) -- Chris Latham tripled,
homered and drove in four runs and Angel Echevarria added a pair
of RBI as the Colorado Springs Sky Sox beat the Albuquerque
Dukes, 11-4. Latham blasted a three-run homer in a five-run
second inning and legged out an RBI triple in the ninth.
Echevarria singled home a pair of runs in the second for
Colorado Springs, which has won four of its last five road
games. Phil Hiatt added a solo homer and Carlos Mendoza chipped
in two hits, a pair of runs and stolen base for the Sky Sox.
Steve Bourgeois (1-1) allowed four runs and six hits, striking
out six, in 7 1/3 innings for the win. Pete Walker allowed a hit
and fanned two over 1 2/3 innings for his first save. Brent
Cookson, who hit a pair of homers and drove in five runs in a
12-1 decision over Fresno Friday, drilled a three-run shot in
the eighth for Albuquerque, which had a three-game win streak
snapped. Ignacio Flores (0-1) surrendered five runs and seven
hits, walking four, in 4 2/3 innings for the loss.
