CALGARY, Alberta (Ticker) -- Ivan Cruz went 5-for-5 and Ray
Montgomery and Craig Wilson both drove in three runs as the
Nashville Sounds edged the Calgary Cannons, 10-9. Cruz, who
doubled and scored a pair of runs, singled home a run in the
first and sixth innings. Montgomery hit a three-run homer in the
sixth frame to supply Nashville with a 10-5 lead. Craig Wilson
highlighted a five-run first inning with a three-run double for
the Sounds, who won for just the third time in nine ballgames.
Bronson Arroyo (3-2) earned the win despite surrendering seven
runs and nine hits over 5 2/3 innings. Josias Manzanillo
collected three straight outs in the ninth, stopping a two-run
rally by Calgary for his third save. Sean McNally drilled a
two-run homer and Manny Martinez added a solo shot for the
Cannons, who have lost six of their last eight games. Hector
Almonte (0-4) surrendered five runs and seven hits in 1 2/3
innings for the loss.
