RECAP
TACOMA, Washington (Ticker) -- Brian Lesher's RBI single in the
bottom of the ninth inning gave the Tacoma Rainiers an 8-7
triumph over the Las Vegas Stars. Lesher, who went 3-for-4 with
two runs scored, brought home Carlos Hernandez after Anthony
Sanders was intentionally walked to load the bases with one out.
Chad Alexander hit a two-run double and Robert Machado homered
for Tacoma, which has won three straight games and 14 of its
last 19. David Newhan belted a two-run homer in his first game
and Dusty Allen went 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI for Las Vegas,
which lost for the first time in its last five contests. Steve
Sinclair (2-0) yielded two hits and an unearned run to pick up
the win in 2 1/3 innings of relief. Matt Whiteside (0-2)
recorded just one out, allowing one hit, one run and two walks.
