OKLAHOMA CITY (Ticker) -- B.J. Waszgis capped a five-run eighth
inning with a two-run triple as the Oklahoma Redhawks rallied
past the Omaha Golden Spikes, 9-5. Waszgis legged out his second
triple of the season to help Oklahoma win for the ninth time in
its last 14 games. Edwin Diaz triggered the eighth-inning
outburst with a run-scoring double and Ruben Sierra, who began
the season with Cancun of the Mexican League, smacked an RBI
two-bagger for the Redhawks. Pedro Valdes, who went 2-for-5 with
a double, and John Shave both extended their hitting streaks to
11 games for Oklahoma. Goef Tomlinson went 3-for-4 with an RBI
triple and Jeremy Carr, who drove in a run for the first time in
his last 16 games, ripped a run-scoring double for Omaha. Hector
Ortiz went 2-for-4 with two runs scored for the Golden Spikes,
who have dropped five games in a row. Dan Kolb (3-1) retired all
four batters he faced to pick up the win. Losing pitcher Archie
Corbin (0-3) surrendered one hit, four runs -- two earned -- and
three walks while recording just one out.
