Nicolaj Thomsen scored the only goal of the game as Nantes made a winning start against Ligue 1 newcomers Dijon.

The Denmark international, a new summer signing, headed home Jules Iloki's cross from the right-hand side three minutes into the second half at the Stade Gaston-Gerard.

Nantes struggled for goals last season and created little else of note against Dijon, who had gone close to opening the scoring when Valentin Rongier's first-half free-kick had to be smartly saved by Baptiste Reynet down to his right.

Dylan Bahamboula's shot being easily saved by Remy Riou was the closest Dijon came to finding an equaliser.
