Broncos coach Sean Payton said after Tuesday's practice fullback Michael Burton had surgery to repair a hamstring injury and was placed on injured reserve as the team cut the roster to 53 players. It means Burton will miss the season. With TE Nate Adkins still recovering from ankle surgery the Broncos may need a short-term solution at fullback to open the season. Payton has said he believes Adkins could play in Week 2 or Week 3.
