Sources: Baylor is finalizing a multi-year deal to hire Jerome Tang as the school’s new associate head coach. Tang was a long-time Baylor assistant under Scott Drew before taking the Kansas State head job in 2022. He worked at Baylor as an assistant coach from 2003 through 2022, including as associate head coach starting in 2017. He was associate head coach on Baylor’s 2021 national title team.

NEWS: NCAA President Charlie Baker told ESPN today that he’s “pretty optimistic” that the new aged-based eligibility proposal will happen. The DI Board of Directors met today and will recommend to not implement this rule retroactively for graduates/exhausted eligibility. “If you’ve used up your eligibility, you’ve used it up,” Baker told ESPN of the tenor of the discussion. Next full DI Cabinet meeting is May 22, where this could potential – but not certainly – be voted on.

He’s under NCAA investigation in the wake of the discovery of Sorsby making thousands of on-line bets on a variety of sports via a gambling app. Sorsby bet on Indiana football while redshirting for IU as a true freshman in 2022, a season in which he played in a single game as a reserve. The bets in 2022 were on Indiana to win and none came in a game he played.
