Sources: Wisconsin is targeting Shawn Eichorst as the school’s new athletic director. He’s the former AD at Nebraska and Miami and is currently the deputy AD and COO at Texas. He’s a former Wisconsin native who worked at the school from 2006-11.

Fairfield has accepted the CAA’s invitation to join the league, per ESPN sources. They will be a full member effective July 1, 2027. This means Fairfield will play one more season in the MAAC/Metro before joining the CAA for 2026-27.

The NCAA Division I Cabinet unanimously approved the organization’s age-based eligibility proposal, which gives athletes five years eligibility over five seasons. This marks a big win for the NCAA, as they attempt to bring consistency to the landscape. An athlete’s five-year eligibility clock would start either upon initial enrollment at any college or at the start of the academic year immediately following their 19th birthday. Whatever happens first.

Just in: NFL is declining to hold a supplemental draft this summer, currently leaving the 2027 Draft as the only way for QB Brendan Sorsby to enter the NFL. A letter is being sent to Sorsby, and to all 32 NFL teams, to inform them of the league’s decision.

Sources: The Coastal Athletic Association is in deep discussions with Fairfield University about joining the league. The CAA has extended an invitation for full membership to Fairfield. While the deal is not finalized, Fairfield is expected to depart the MAAC/Metro in the near future for the CAA. This move would up the CAA to 14 full-time members.

Michigan is working toward hiring Mike Boynton Jr. as interim coach, ESPN sources tell me and @jeffborzello and @AdamSchefter. He’d replace Dusty May for this season at Michigan, as Michigan has a strong roster that it is motivated to keep in place.
