Sunday is 36 years since MLB Commissioner Bart Giamatti banned Pete Rose for life. Giamatti’s son Marcus shared today that he and his father traveled from New York to Massachusetts hours after the historic 8/24/89 announcement. “I remember him feeling really good and strong about what he did in the best interests of baseball. He was exhausted and relieved.” Bart Giamatti died of a heart attack eight days later at age 51.
