Bill Bryan of the Kansas City A's, who caught Satchel Paige's last MLB game, 9/25/65, died Thursday at 87. For our 2025 Andscape story on Paige, MLB's oldest player ever at 59, Bryan said, "I thought it was an honor to get the start, because we had a couple of other catchers on the team. I knew I was setting history. I said, ‘Heck, a country boy like me part of history with a guy that played ball before I was born,' and I really enjoyed doing it." Bryan also played for the Yankees & Senators.
