GAME UPDATE
JACKSON, Mississippi (Ticker) -- Brandon Merli scored a shootout goal as the Birmingham Bulls edged the Jackson Bandits, 6-5. Merli, who also tallied in the second period, beat Jackson goaltender Mike Tamburro to give Birmingham the victory despite a hat trick by the Bandits' Cory Larose. Hugo Belanger and Ian Walterson both delivered a goal and an assist for the Bulls, who snapped a four-game winless streak at 0-3-1. Ryan Hoople stopped 36 shots to pick up the win and improved to 11-16-3. Larose recorded his first professional hat trick with three second-period tallies and Chris Peyton had a goal and an assist for Jackson, which is 10-2-2 in its last 14 games. Tamburro suffered the overtime loss allowing five goals on 33 shots in regulation to fall to 22-15-4.
