TRENTON, New Jersey (Ticker) -- Rick Kowalsky scored his fourth goal in six games and Shane Belter assisted on all three Trenton goals as the Titans defeated the Charlotte Checkers, 3-1. Kowalsky snapped a scoreless tie with a power-play goal at 6:37 of the second period, assisted by Belter and Mike Hall. Chris Heron followed with his first goal of the year at 19:25 of the second stanza to increase the Trenton lead to 2-0. Mark Tropper put Charlotte on the board with his 25th marker of the year, less than a minute into the third period. Paul Spadafora found the empty net at 19:23 to put the game away for the Titans, who avenged Friday's 7-4 loss to the Checkers. Scott Stirling made 32 saves to earn his 28th win for Trenton. Scott Bailey surrendered two goals on 26 shots for Charlotte, which had its three-game winning streak snapped.
