ESPN Fantasy Projection: Polanco had his breakout year in 2019, silencing the critics who wondered if his 2017 efforts were mostly PED-driven. He made the absolute most out of his playing time, hitting at or near the top of a loaded Minnesota lineup that will only be stronger in 2020. The increase in power came from a change in his approach, as he got more loft to the baseball, increasing his fly ball rate by six percentage points. The one thing holding the switch-hitter back is that he is much more effective from the right side than the left. He did have ankle surgery in late November to relieve an impingement issue, which put a pause on baseball activities until early January. It will be interesting to see how the change in offseason planning affects him in the new year, if at all.
