Indians president Chris Antonetti sounded pretty candid today when asked where things stand with his shortstop, Francisco Lindor ...

Alden Gonzalez ESPN Staff Writer

Francisco Lindor made it clear today that his preference is to win with the Indians and stay long term. Is there a path to make that happen, given the contract he would demand as a free agent in two years? "Yeah, there is. If the negotiations make sense, it's gonna happen. The team is not broke. The league is not broke. There's money."

Gleyber Torres stated he doesn't believe the Astros when they say they didn't continue their illegal sign-stealing in 2018-2019. The problem with that statement is that he's also accusing his now teammate, Gerrit Cole, of being part of a team that cheated.

This is what Gleyber Torres told me about Cody Bellinger's comment that his friend, fellow Venezuelan José Altuve, “stole the MVP” from teammate Aaron Judge: “In Venezuela, Altuve is a hero. I don't want to say that during the (2017) regular season he didn't put up his numbers or what he did is not real. I really believe that everything he has done is legal. But in some situations, I think about what the team did, and the use of a camera and everything, and it doesn't really feel very good.”

Angels owner Arte Moreno said the DEA investigation into Tyler Skaggs' death is still ongoing, but wouldn't get into details. He confirmed that he pulled out of the Dodgers trade, but said there were "other factors involved." One point he made clear throughout a half-hour media session: He still wants to acquire a top-of-the-rotation starter.

Gleyber Torres on José Altuve: "I got a really good relationship with Altuve. For me, it's hard to see that. But I don't want to say anything exactly against Altuve. To me, he's one of the best players in MLB, so I feel really bad. Altuve is truly a good guy and humble, but not respecting the game, I don't like that. I still have a really good relationship with him.

Not unlike the Dodgers, the Cubs may have a broadcast issue as they start their own TV Network later this week. The network hasn't come to an agreement with Comcast cable yet, the city's largest provider. It means those subscribers won't be able to watch spring games starting on Saturday. Opening day seemingly will be a deadline for negotiations.

Mike Trout was, like so many others, pretty firm on the Astros. Some reached out to apologize, but Trout said he "lost respect" for some of them and thinks they should've been punished. Did he hear banging on the trash cans at Minute Maid Park? "I didn't notice the hanging on the trash can — I noticed the banging on the bat. It just seems like they weren't missing pitches."
