Shohei Ohtani and the Angels are $800,000 apart as they potentially head towards an arbitration hearing. It's a small difference, relatively speaking, but an interesting case that might hinge on how much he's expected to pitch and thus contribute as a two-way player. The Angels submitted at $2.5M, and Ohtani's side countered at $3.3M.

The Dodgers and Cody Bellinger settled at $16.1 million, one year after he set a record for a first-year, arbitration-eligible player. This was just slightly higher than the $15.9M projected for him by MLB Trade Rumors. Bellinger has two more arbitration years left and will become very expensive if he keeps this pace up.

Kurt Suzuki's deal with the Angels (for $1.5 million, as confirmed by ESPN's Jeff Passan) continues a trend of one-year commitments under first-year GM Perry Minasian, following SS Jose Iglesias, CL Raisel Iglesias and LHRP Alex Claudio. Could theoretically open up the opportunity to go big on starting pitching, which they desperately need. Only Anthony Rendon, Mike Trout and Justin Upton are currently signed beyond this year.

Wilmer Difo's deal with the Pirates is a minor-league contract, presumably with an invite to big-league camp.
