News: 2 days agoTowns could see his playmaking responsibilities expand this season as New York looks to build on an adjustment that proved effective during last year's playoffs, Jared Schwartz of the New York Post reports.
Spin: Head coach Mike Brown indicated that the Knicks intend to feature Towns at the elbow more frequently, allowing the big man to facilitate with the ball in his hands. The approach could give Towns more opportunities to create for teammates while opening additional actions for OG Anunoby and Mikal Bridges away from the ball.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Towns modified his game last season to fit in with his strong Knicks teammates, turning in his lowest scoring average (20.1 PPG) since his rookie season with his fewest 3-pointers (1.5 3PG) since 2018-19. On the positive side, Towns still has averaged more than 20 PPG in 10 straight seasons and has posted 12.4 RPG in his two seasons with the Knicks, his best marks since 2018-19. Towns also emerged in the playoffs as a strong passer that can generate big assist numbers, should the team decide to run more offense through him.
