Spin: According to coach Ime Udoka, Durant was initially scheduled to play only the first half Friday but requested additional minutes to build chemistry with Fred VanVleet and his other new teammates. The veteran forward's absence Sunday appears to be a planned precaution rather than an injury-related setback, and Houston should have additional minutes available for its other wings and forwards.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Durant enters his 20th NBA season as still one of the best scorers in the league. Standing near 7-foot with one of the smoothest jumpers in NBA history, Durant has a playing style that remains effective regardless of age. He is the elder statesman on a talented Rockets team that will get starting point guard Fred VanVleet back this season. Playing with VanVleet should get Durant better looks in the halfcourt offense, so health-willing he could replicate or even surpass his production last season when he ranked 15th in the league in fantasy scoring.
