News: 4 days agoKessler (shoulder) is fully healthy and has been cleared for the start of the season, according to Lakers president Rob Pelinka, Ryan Ward of SI.com reports.
Spin: Kessler underwent shoulder surgery back in November, but Pelinka said the big man is looking forward to playing in a lot of games this year. The 25-year-old appears on track to enter training camp without restrictions and should have a prominent role in Los Angeles' frontcourt, with Luka Doncic setting him up with easy looks.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Kessler was limited by shoulder surgery to only five games last season but should be returned to health for this, his first campaign with the Lakers. Kessler has been brought in to be the Lakers' franchise big man: an anchor on defense and a finisher on offense. Kessler is one of the best shot-blockers in the NBA and an athletic finisher around the rim, exactly the prototype for the type of big that thrives next to Luka Doncic. If he stays healthy, Kessler should be poised for the best season of his career with top-50 upside in points leagues and top-30 in categories.
