News: 10 hours agoFears recorded 11 points (4-8 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), two rebounds and two assists in 19 minutes during Thursday's 128-118 preseason loss to Miami.

Spin: Fears drew the start at point guard and delivered an efficient scoring performance, although he committed three turnovers. The second-year guard showed encouraging perimeter shooting and should remain in the mix for backcourt minutes, but competition from Dejounte Murray (rest) and Jordan Poole could limit his opportunities once the regular season begins.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Fears enters his second season with the Pelicans looking to turn flashes from a solid rookie year into a bigger role. He averaged 14.3 PPG, 3.7 RPG, 3.4 APG and 1.2 SPG while playing all 82 games, but shot just 33.0% from beyond the arc and struggled defensively. Fears’ playmaking improved as the season went on, and another step there could push him toward 17.0 PPG and 5.0 APG. The downside is that defensive issues could keep him from a full-time starting role. Fears is worth taking a chance on late in fantasy drafts.
