News: 2 days agoLillard may open training camp with Portland's starting group, according to Sam Amico of Hoops Wire.
Spin: With Lillard coming off an Achilles injury and now with a questionable fit alongside Ja Morant, the Portland backcourt has been one of the league's top camp storylines. The Trail Blazers open their preseason Wednesday against Golden State, and perhaps their first exhibition starting lineup will offer a hint to their plans for the regular season. Jrue Holiday is already expected to spend more time on the wing, so Portland could experiment with three-guard lineups featuring Lillard, Morant and Holiday at times.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Lillard sat out last season with a torn Achilles, and when last he played it was as the second option to Giannis Antetokounmpo with the Bucks. This season, he will be back home with the Trail Blazers squad where he spent his first decade in the league. Portland is in the midst of rebuilding and have four strong lead guards, including Lillard, Jrue Holiday, Ja Morant and Scoot Henderson. The minutes distribution isn't clear, though between them they may get minutes at shooting guard as well. Lillard should be productive when on the floor but his volume could be capped.
