News: 20 hours agoCoach Jesse Minter noted Tuesday that Jackson and other key starters won't play in Saturday's preseason opener against the Eagles, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.

Spin: There's little to gain by putting Jackson in harms way during the preseason, and there's a pretty solid chance he'll be held out of the team's other two exhibition contests as well. Tyler Huntley, Skylar Thompson (undisclosed) and Joe Fagnano are candidates to handle Baltimore's signal-caller reps this weekend against the Eagles.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Jackson, 29, is eyeing a rebound after a disappointing, injury-plagued 2025. Jackson started the season strong (26-plus fantasy points in each of his first three games) but left Week 4 because of an injury and wasn't the same once he returned in Week 9 (13.5 fantasy points per game in his final nine outings). Jackson's overall rushing was down, but that was likely a product of him not being fully healthy, especially considering his scramble rate (8.4%) remained high. Jackson has a new coach (Jesse Minter) and playcaller (Declan Doyle), but his supporting cast is otherwise similar to a 2024 campaign in which he paced all quarterbacks in fantasy points. Assuming he's back to full health, Jackson is a strong bet for a rebound and should be valued as a high-end QB1.
