News: 18 hours agoShough completed 30 of 48 passes for 286 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions and rushed twice for five yards in the Saints' 45-24 loss to the Falcons on Monday night.

Spin: Shough's final line was perfectly acceptable from a fantasy standpoint, but Monday night was a case of the numbers being much more aesthetically pleasing than the on-field results. He piled up a significant part of his production in the second half -- including a three-yard touchdown pass to Devaughn Vele with 1:13 remaining -- after the Saints already faced a sizable deficit, as he led a couple of 13-play drives in the fourth quarter when New Orleans was down by 21 and 28 points, respectively. Nevertheless, Shough generated his second interception-free performance of the last three games, and he's up to 1,203 passing yards and a 9:3 TD:INT along with 72 rushing yards and another score heading into a Week 5 home matchup against an aggressive Vikings defense on Sunday.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: One of the surprise second-half breakout players of 2025, Shough scored 17-plus fantasy points in seven of his nine full games, including six straight to end the season. The 2025 second-round pick was a solid producer with his arm (250.1 passing yards per game) and his legs (19.3 rushing yards per game and three TDs). Shough didn't show a high ceiling (he never reached 22 fantasy points in a game), though that can be traced to a shaky supporting cast. That's an area that should be better in 2026 with Travis Etienne Jr. and No. 8 overall pick Jordyn Tyson (once healthy) joining the team. He's still unproven, but Shough enters Year 2 (same as coach Kellen Moore) as an intriguing fantasy breakout candidate. He's worth a look in the later rounds.
