News: 3 days agoBateman did not bring in his lone target during Baltimore's 41-23 win over Indianapolis on Sunday.
Spin: Bateman and Lamar Jackson connected on a 19-yard pass late in the second quarter, but that play was called back due to offensive holding. Jackson and Bateman failed to connect on a throw early in the third quarter, and the latter finished with zero catches for the fourth time since the beginning of the 2025 season. Bateman ended up leading all wide receivers with 53 offensive snaps, and despite the early dud, his role in the offense should expand for as long as rookie Ja'Kobi Lane is sidelined by a fractured wrist, and even more so if Zay Flowers (hamstring) were to miss time. The Ravens host the Saints on Sept. 20 in what is Baltimore's home opener.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Bateman is entering his sixth season in Baltimore following an injury-plagued 2025 campaign in which he was limited to a career-low 224 receiving yards in 13 games. After scoring nine touchdowns on only 45 receptions in 2024, Bateman had "regression" written all over him entering last season, but it was worse than expected. The 2021 first-round pick saw his target share fall from 15.4% to a career-low 11.4% and his only double-digit fantasy effort came in Week 3. The 26-year-old remains second on Baltimore's depth chart behind Zay Flowers, but even in a new scheme and with a healthy Lamar Jackson under center, he's unlikely to produce his first top-35 fantasy campaign. Bateman isn't the most appealing late-round draft pick.
