News: 2 days agoDoubs secured six of nine targets for 58 yards and two touchdowns in the Patriots' 29-26 win over the Bills on Sunday.
Spin: Doubs put together a performance befitting his current role as No. 1 receiver in the ongoing absence of A.J. Brown (ankle, IR), recording his first two touchdowns as a member of the Patriots while finishing as the team leader in receptions and targets with figures that also qualified as season highs. Doubs struck from 14 and two yards out in the first and third quarter, respectively, on his pair of scoring grabs, and after a blanking in Week 1 against Seattle, he's bounced back with a 12-203-2 line on 20 targets. Doubs will next try to make inroads against a tough Raiders defense at home in Week 5.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Doubs signed with the Patriots during free agency after spending his first four NFL seasons with the Packers. He was a serviceable player during his Green Bay tenure, but he never finished a season in the top 30 among receivers in targets, catches, yards or fantasy points. Consistently mediocre, Doubs has averaged either 10.2 or 10.3 fantasy PPG each of the last three seasons. In New England, Doubs is likely to settle in as Drake Maye's No. 2 target behind A.J. Brown, though his target ceiling figures to be capped with the likes of DeMario Douglas, Mack Hollins and Kyle Williams also in the mix at receiver. Doubs, 26, is a fine addition to your bench, but his upside is limited.
