News: 6 days agoGainwell caught one of his two targets for one yard in Thursday's 28-22 loss to the Buccaneers.
Spin: Gainwell wasn't a part of the running game at all in this one and has seen his carries level out over the last four weeks after garnering 15 over the season's first two games. The rookie has now seen just six totes since Week 2 ended.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Gainwell was selected by Eagles in the fifth round of April's draft. The Memphis product is 5-foot-11, 201 pounds and an undersized scat back with average speed who figures to make his name as a pass catcher and perhaps in the slot WR in the pros. Gainwell's receiving prowess is apparent, as he averaged a massive 9.7 YPT during his final two FBS seasons. Gainwell opted out of the 2020 season, so we haven't seen him in a while, and, though he did handle a big workload in 2019, his size and skillset is unlikely to allow him much goal line work or a three-down role in the pros. He'll open his career battling Boston Scott for change-of-pace/passing-down role behind feature back Miles Sanders. Draft the rookie in only very deep PPR leagues.
