Spin: Rice was on the receiving end of Patrick Mahomes' first touchdown pass of the season, doing all the work on a 13-yard scoring grab off a wide-receiver screen late in the first half that saw him break multiple tackles. Rice was quiet otherwise, but he did deliver excellent downfield blocking on Travis Kelce's game-long 59-yard catch in the third quarter. Mahomes connected on just five occasions with Rice and fellow starting wideout Xavier Worthy on Monday night, but that volume could certainly increase in a favorable Week 2 home matchup Sunday night against a Colts defense that was exposed in every facet by the Ravens in Week 1.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Rice enters Year 4 of his career still seeking his first full season as a starter. The 2023 second-round pick was sidelined for most of 2024 due to injury and missed nine games last season due to suspension (Weeks 1-6) and injury (Weeks 16-18). The good news is that Rice remained highly productive when active. He handled 9.8 targets per game and was a top-12 fantasy receiver in five of his eight outings in 2025. Rice is Patrick Mahomes' top target, and his 8.0 RAC is tops among qualified receivers over the past three seasons. With Mahomes (ACL recovery) ready to go in Week 1 as expected, Rice finds himself in the WR1 mix.
