News: 3 days agoBroncos coach Sean Payton named Coleman as one of the team's pleasant surprises at training camp so far, Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post reports.

Spin: When asked Wednesday about pleasant surprises at camp, Payton began his answer with Coleman's name. The coach even said that Coleman "doesn't feel like a rookie," per Troy Renck of Denver 7 News. Then again, Payton has also made glowing comments about RB J.K. Dobbins and half of the wide receivers on the camp roster. A rookie fourth-round pick, Coleman is perhaps making his case to force a three-way backfield split with Dobbins and RJ Harvey.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Coleman was selected by the Broncos in the fourth round of April's draft. He is a 220-pound back who was highly efficient during four collegiate seasons at Arizona and Washington. Coleman didn't get much pre-contact help (1.80 YBC), but he made up for it after contact (3.73 YAC ranks second in this rookie RB class) and his career 3.4 forced missed tackle rate is best in this class. Also solid as a receiver and blocker, Coleman has three-down ability, but may not get that opportunity until 2027. The rookie will begin his career behind J.K. Dobbins, RJ Harvey and perhaps even receiving specialist Tyler Badie. Coleman should be added only if Dobbins or Harvey goes down with an injury.
