News: 8 hours agoRodgers completed 23 of 39 passes for 187 yards, no touchdowns and one interception in Sunday's 20-3 loss to the Patriots. He also rushed once for five yards and fumbled twice, losing one.

Spin: Rodgers threw for just 84 yards on 22 first-half pass attempts as the Steelers took a 10-3 deficit into the locker room. Things didn't get any better after halftime, as Rodgers lost a fumble in the fourth quarter that was scooped up by New England's defense for a touchdown and added an interception on a ball that hit rookie receiver Germie Bernard in the hands. Bernard and DK Metcalf turned 17 combined targets into just 62 yards as Pittsburgh's passing game struggled against New England's stout secondary in the absence of starting wide receiver Michael Pittman (foot). Things may not get much easier for Rodgers in Week 3 against a Bengals defense that just held Houston to six points.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Rodgers re-signed with the Steelers and will return for his second season with the team. The 42-year-old is reuniting with his longtime head coach from Green Bay, Mike McCarthy. The duo will look to improve on a 2025 campaign in which Rodgers finished just outside the top 12 in passing yards and touchdowns while ranking 23rd among 28 qualified QBs in QBR. Even if Rodgers' efficiency improves, he remains a nonfactor as a rusher (he last cleared 107 yards in 2020) and hasn't been fantasy relevant since 2021 (25th, 18th and 25th in points per game in his past three full seasons). Even with a more pass-friendly playcaller and with Michael Pittman Jr. and Germie Bernard added to the wide receiver room, Rodgers is no more than a low-ceiling QB2.
