Sources: Rutgers is set to hire Drake head coach Joe Woodley as an assistant coach on the defensive staff. Prior to Drake, Woodley won an NAIA championship at Grand View, where he went 72-5 as head coach and didn’t lose a regular season game.
Woodley coached both offense and defense on climb up. The position he’ll coach at Rutgers is yet-to-be determined. In 2025, Woodley led Drake to an 8-4 record and an FCS playoff bid. He worked together with new Rutgers DC Travis Johansen at Grand View.
