Sources: Rice has named redshirt freshman Chase Jenkins the team’s starting quarterback, and he’ll start the team’s opener at Louisiana. His ability to pressure defenses with his arm and legs helped him win the job.
He'll be new head coach Scott Abell’s first starting quarterback. Jenkins played one season at QB, switched to WR and then back to QB. Abell's offense, known has the Rice Gun Choice, features the QB run and led the FCS in rushing in 6 of 7 seasons at Davidson.
