Charlotte has named veteran transfer Cole Gonzales the starting quarterback, per ESPN sources. He was at Pitt in 2025, arriving via Oklahoma and Western Carolina. He beat out UNC transfer Conner Harrell and Duke transfer Grayson Loftis. Gonzales had high-end success at Western Carolina, as he was first-team All-SoCon and league offensive POY in 2023, totaling 6,682 passing yards and 51 TD passes in 27 games. He’ll debut against Citadel on Sept. 5 and then play at Ole Miss the next week.
