BOX SCORE
TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) _ Denny Neagle allowed eight hits and five runs in four innings in the Colorado Rockies' 6-5 exhibition loss to the Anaheim Angels on Wednesday. Neagle, who left the world champion New York Yankees to sign a free-agent contract with Colorado, gave up only two earned runs in nine innings in his first three spring appearances. ``It took me past the first inning to get loose,'' Neagle said. ``I couldn't hit my spots. Every good pitch I threw, they managed to get a good part of the bat on it. Every bad pitch I made, they made me pay. I'm not pleased with this.'' Neagle complained of some stiffness in his throwing shoulder, but said that it was normal for him and nothing to worry about. Anaheim had a four-run first, with Garret Anderson hitting an RBI double, Bengie Molina adding a run-scoring single, and Jamie Burke hitting a two-run double. Kimera Bartee hit a leadoff homer in the second. Adam Melhuse hit a two-run homer in the fourth to help the Rockies tie it at 5. Justin Baughman broke the tie with a two-out single off Cam Esslinger in the eighth. Jose Canseco was a last-second scratch from the Angels' lineup. Canseco, who missed the past four games because of lower back pain, felt tightness in his right hamstring. ``I'm concerned long-term,'' Angels' manager Mike Scioscia said. ``I don't think it's anything we haven't talked about. He hasn't been able to get to where he needs to be. We've just got to get over the hump. Hopefully, it's just a little bump in the road.''
