BOX SCORE
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) _ Jeff Weaver allowed one hit in four innings Wednesday as the Detroit Tigers beat the Tampa Bay Devil Rays 7-5. Shane Halter and Jermaine Clark hit third-inning sacrifice flies off Bobby Seay to give Detroit a 3-1 lead. Billy McMillon, Kurt Bierek, Jermaine Allensworth and Carlos Mendez also drove in runs for the Tigers, who built a 7-1 lead. Weaver, making his third spring appearance, allowed Mike DiFelice's third-inning homer. ``He got a lot of quick outs, which means his ball was moving good,'' Tigers manager Phil Garner said. Tampa Bay's Jose Guillen had a two-run single off Heath Murray in the eighth inning. Aubrey Huff doubled off Dave Borkowski to drive in one of the Devil Rays' two ninth-inning runs. Devil Rays starter Paul Wilson pitched four hitless innings, but did allow an unearned run in the first. Notes: Garner said March 22 is a target date for Dean Palmer, who had offseason shoulder surgey, to begin getting some playing time at third base. He's been used exclusively as a designated hitter this spring ... Devil Rays RHP Juan Guzman, who missed most of last season after shoulder surgery, didn't report any problems after pitching four innings in a simulated game. He could make a start in a minor league game next week ... Tampa Bay optioned RHP Delvin James to Double-A Orlando.
