FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) _ The injuries keep piling up for the Boston Red Sox. Right fielder Manny Ramirez took himself out of Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Minnesota Twins in the middle of the third inning with a mild left hamstring strain. Ramirez appeared to pull up while chasing Matt Lawton's deep hit to his left, which fell in for a double. Ramirez, who signed a $160 million, eight-year contract during the offseason, pulled the hamstring last year and missed 44 games while playing for the Cleveland Indians, but this injury is not in the same spot, the Red Sox said. Ramirez came out of the game after talking to center fielder Carl Everett. ``He asked my opinion and I said, 'Take it in,''' Everett said. ``To avoid any seriousness I told him to leave the field. There's no sense staying out there with a tweak.'' Ramirez was not available for comment. ``I don't think it's severe,'' manager Jimy Williams said. ``It's good he didn't take a chance out there.'' Ramirez, who is hitting .143 with one home run this spring, will not play in Thursday's game against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Williams said. Ramirez got hurt the day after pitcher David Cone took himself out of a game with soreness in his right shoulder. Pitcher Bret Saberhagen is trying to come back from right shoulder surgery after missing all of last season. Two-time American League batting champion Nomar Garciaparra has not played this spring with a split tendon in his right wrist. Infielder Jon Valentin is trying to come back from a ruptured tendon in his left knee. First baseman Jose Offerman is recovering from a groin strain and third baseman Chris Stynes has a strained left calf. ``It's kind of a mess right now,'' said second baseman Lou Merloni, who hit a two-run homer run off of Saul Rivera in the eighth. Caution is the key. ``I'd much rather have him come off the field on a day like today where it's awfully tough to keep hydrated, and you can cramp and you can pull things very, very easily,'' Merloni said. The Twins took a 3-0 lead off Hideo Nomo on Torii Hunter's solo homer in the first and Hunter's two-run double in the third. Nomo allowed three hits in four innings and struck out four. Minnesota starter Brad Radke faced the minimum number of batters and gave up two hits in five innings. ``I just felt really relaxed out there,'' said Radke, who was 12-16 last season. ``I kept the ball down and I got some help from the defense.'' Boston's Brian Daubach hit a two-run homer off J.C. Romero in the seventh before Merloni won it. Notes: Red Sox RHP pitcher Rolando Arrojo has been sent to the bullpen. Arrojo was 5-2 as a starter with the Red Sox last season, but has struggled this spring. ``He can help out the bullpen a lot,'' manager Jimy Williams said. ``He has a healthy, resilient arm.'' ... After going 3-for-3 on Tuesday, Twins shortstop Jason Maxwell was 0-for-3 Wednesday. ... Red Sox C Scott Hatteberg hit singles in his first two at bats, but was wiped out on double plays both times. He finished 3-for-4. ... The Red Sox win stopped an eight-game spring training losing streak and a four-game spring training losing streak to the Twins. ... The Red Sox optioned LHP Sang-Hoon Lee to Triple-A Pawtucket and sent RHP Rafael Betancourt, RHP Brian Williams, OF Izzy Alcantara and C Luis Rodriguez to minor league camp.
