ESPN Fantasy Projection: Last season was the "perfect storm" for Soler. The rebuilding Royals had an open DH spot for the defensively challenged former Cub, and they didn't care about his proclivity for striking out. The rest was up to him -- and Soler came through, lofting the ball more than he had in 2018 and hitting it harder than at any time in his career. Not only did Soler revert to a 41% fly ball rate, but he lowered his infield pops by 5 percentage points -- a significant amount for someone with a 26% K rate. After all, an infield fly, like a whiff, is a guaranteed unproductive out. Soler played 56 games in the outfield last season, but could be hard-pressed to get the minimum required to avoid DH-only eligibility in future seasons. Even so, in today's homer-happy landscape, Soler has finally broken through and looks to be a quality source of power for the next few years.
