ESPN Fantasy Projection: Hopefully you let someone else shell out for Lopez when he was summoned to the majors last season. While not a marquee prospect, Lopez had real buzz as a minor leaguer and there was some thought that he could steal double-digit bases while hitting for a high average. Some things did translate, with Lopez posting a low 12.7 K% in his 402 plate appearances with Kansas City. Unfortunately, that was the only skill to carry over, as Lopez could not tap into the gap power he showed at Triple-A. He struggled with plate patience, with his BB% falling from 14.5% to just 4.5% after the jump in levels. Worst of all for those who took the chance, Lopez hardly ran at all, swiping just one bag in two attempts with the major-league team. On the plus side, with Whit Merrifield moving to the outfield full time, second base looks it may be Lopez's to lose, at least.
