MESA, Ariz. (AP) -- Aaron Rowand homered twice and the Chicago

White Sox connected for six home runs Monday in a 9-5 victory over

the rival Cubs.

"This ballpark was a slump buster, it felt like we were in

Wrigley Field," White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said of windy

conditions similar to those at the Cubs' home ballpark in Chicago.

Juan Uribe, Joe Borchard, A.J. Pierzynski and Paul Konerko

homered for the White Sox with the aid of a 12 mph wind.

Chicago Cubs catcher Michael Barrett, who called it a "Wrigley

Field day," homered for the Cubs.

"They took advantage of the elements today," Cubs manager

Dusty Baker said.

Mark Buehrle gave up five runs and 10 hits in 5 2-3 innings. He

didn't walk a batter while striking out two.

"We tried to stretch him another inning, but he did look

tired," Guillen said.

The Cubs took a 1-0 lead in the second on an RBI single by

rookie Jason Dubois. In the third, Uribe hit a two-run homer, and

Rowand followed with his first.

"I wasn't going up there trying to hit home runs," Rowand

said. "I was trying to hit line drives up the middle."

Wilson Valdez singled home a run in the fourth against Cubs

starter Ryan Dempster.

Dempster, in line to be the Cubs' fifth starter, gave up six

hits and four runs in four innings.

"It was one of those days where you've got to try to get the

ball inside on these guys because it's definitely carrying out to

right," Dempster said. "I felt good out there. I was throwing

strikes and getting ahead and making my pitches. Stuff like that is

going to happen."

The White Sox scored four runs in the fifth against left-hander

Glendon Rusch. Rowand hit his second homer, Borchard hit a two-run

homer and Pierzynski added a solo shot.

Barrett homered in the bottom half, and the Cubs scored three

more in the sixth.

Derrek Lee went 3-for-3 for the Cubs. Nomar Garciaparra was

2-for-3.

^Notes:@ Veteran infielder Dave Hansen, who is in Cubs camp as a

non-roster invitee, underwent an emergency appendectomy early

Monday morning and will be out at least two to three weeks,

according to Cubs general manager Jim Hendry.
