ATLANTA (Ticker) -- Atlanta Braves manager Bobby Cox is poised

to join an exclusive club.

Rookie Adam LaRoche and Marcus Giles hit solo homers in the

fifth inning and Atlanta scored three times in the sixth as the

Braves posted a 5-2 triumph over the New York Mets and salvaged

a split of their doubleheader.

The victory gave Cox 1,999 in his career - only seven managers

ever have won 2,000 games.

Giles recorded his second career homer as a pinch hitter when he

tagged Tom Glavine in the fifth. LaRoche had hit his 11th of

the season earlier in the frame.

Glavine (10-14) worked six innings and was charged with five

runs and seven hits. He is 1-6 in seven outings against his

former team.

Atlanta scored three times in the sixth to break a 2-2 tie as

Johnny Estrada and Wilson Betemit had RBI singles and Dewayne

Wise a sacrifice fly.

Braves starter Jaret Wright was knocked out of the game in the

third when he was hit in the right ankle with a line drive by

Wilson Delgado. X-rays were negative and Wright, who could be a

part of Atlanta's postseason rotation, is listed as day-to-day.

Roman Colon (2-1) gave up a run on two hits in the sixth but

notched the victory. John Smoltz pitched a scoreless ninth for

his 42nd save.

Delgado had four hits and rookie David Wright hit his 13th homer

in the fourth.
