News: 19 hours agoCapela will be limited to begin training camp after receiving a PRP injection in his Achilles during the offseason, Brad Rowland of PeachtreeHoops.com reports.
Spin: The Achilles has bothered Capela dating back to the 2019-20 season, and he revealed Monday that he played through discomfort for much of last season. The big man added that he's "still ramping up" as he recovers from the injection, but his goal is to be ready for the start of the regular season. At this point, it's likely Capela will miss multiple preseason contests, but the situation shouldn't have a major impact on his fantasy stock.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Capela stepped up as the clear second fantasy option on the Hawks last season, leading the NBA with 14.3 RPG to match with 2.0 BPG, 15.2 PPG and 59.4 FG%. His free throw percentage continues to be a clear weakness, but at only 3.6 FTA per game the negative is mitigated. His elite strengths in the big man categories make Capela a strong option in either points or roto fantasy leagues, and as Trae Young's primary pick-and-roll partner he should continue to score at high efficiency moving forward.
