News: 6 days agoMann and the Clippers agreed Tuesday on a two-year, $22 million contract extension, Marc J. Spears of ESPN.com reports.
Spin: After emerging as a key contributor on the second unit during his second season in 2020-21, Mann gained further prominence in the Clippers' run to the Western Conference Finals while Kawhi Leonard (knee) was sidelined with a partially torn ACL. While starting in six of the Clippers' final eight postseason contests, Mann averaged 12.8 points (on 55.7 percent shooting from the field), 2.9 rebounds, 1.6 three-pointers, 1.1 assists and 1.0 steals in 28.5 minutes per contest. Though Mann is expected to open the 2021-22 campaign in a bench role even with Leonard likely to be sidelined for most of the season following surgery, the 24-year-old's playing time should veer closer to what he saw in the postseason than the 18.9 minutes per contest he averaged during the past regular season. The fully guaranteed extension seemingly adds further credence to that notion.
