DariusAcuff Jr.

News: 2 days agoAcuff posted 25 points (8-15 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 5-5 FT), four rebounds and eight assists across 27 minutes in Saturday's 111-106 preseason loss to the Warriors.

Spin: Acuff scored a game-high 25 points and traded blows with fellow rookie Yaxel Lendeborg, who scored 23 for the Warriors. This was a step in the right direction for Acuff, who posted 12 points on 4-of-15 shooting in Thursday's loss to the Lakers. He should continue to see ample playing time in the preseason ahead of the regular-season opener against the Clippers on Wednesday, Oct. 21.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Acuff was the best offense-creator in this year's NBA draft class, capable of generating volume points for himself as well as his teammates. Acuff has a slick handle and parking lot shooting range, and his first step allows him to get into the lane to draw fouls. Much of his effectiveness this season will be predicated on his ability to handle the physicality at the NBA level, to be able to still finish in the paint or set up teammates without turning the ball over. The Kings are in full rebuild, so he should have plenty of latitude to make mistakes as a rookie. Acuff should get minutes and usage early, which could make him fantasy viable out the gate.
