Philadelphia 76ers @ Chicago Bulls
'Pick your poison': Iverson, Robinson
CHICAGO (AP) -- Allen Iverson already enjoys playing with Glenn Robinson.
Iverson set season highs with 33 points, 11 assists and eight
steals, and Robinson got his first double-double with Philadelphia
as the 76ers defeated the Chicago Bulls 106-85 on Friday night.
"I think Glenn makes the game so much easier for me," Iverson
said. "Guys got to play me honest now. I noticed during the game
he was in the corner and I penetrated to the basket and his man
helped, and just for that second he was open and hit a 3. It's kind
of a pick your poison thing."
It was the fourth blowout loss already this season for Chicago.
The Bulls (2-4) lost to Washington at home by 25 in their opener,
got beat at Milwaukee by 30 and got blown out by Houston by 32 at
home on Monday.
Robinson had 21 points and 11 rebounds, and Aaron McKie had 12 points and seven boards for Philadelphia.
Chicago heard boos again from the soldout United Center crowd.
The Bulls trailed by as many as 25 after a pair of free throws by
Iverson with 5:08 left.
"It seems like Murphy's law, everything is going badly," Eddy Curry said.
Curry led the Bulls with 21 points and nine rebounds. Jamal Crawford added 19 points.
Iverson scored 20 in the first half and had five assists. He
beat the Bulls by driving to the basket early, but in the second
half he settled for mostly outside shots. He was 11-for-21 from the
floor and 11-for-12 from the free throw line.
McKie made two free throws to give Philadelphia 40-25 lead,
capping an 11-1 Philadelphia run with 9:27 left in the second
quarter.
Samuel Dalembert tipped in Iverson's miss to give the 76ers a 94-71 lead. Dalembert had 14 points and seven rebounds.
"Words can't express what he did for us tonight, and I told him
at the beginning of the season he has to be the X-factor for this
team," Iverson said.
In the third quarter, the Bulls missed six of eight free throws
during one span. They were 11-for-22 on the night. Curry was
5-for-12 from the line.
"There is a lot of talk about winning, but until you have done
it, it's just talk," Jalen Rose said. "We have to find a way to be competitive every night."
